The no-links rule changes how you contribute
Most subreddits restrict promotional links. r/SEO removes all of them, automatically. That single rule is more consequential than it sounds, because the reflex of anyone answering a technical question is to link to documentation, a case study or a tool — and here every one of those replies silently disappears.
The adaptation is to write the answer out in full. Explain the method in the comment rather than pointing at where the method is explained. This is more work, it is better for the reader, and it is the only thing that survives.
Soliciting DMs is separately banned and enforced with bans for repeat offenders, as is self-promotion, brand awareness content and how-to guides posted as posts. The community treats itself as a question-and-answer forum rather than a publishing platform, and polices that distinction firmly.
An honest note for anyone selling SEO services: this community is full of people who do this professionally and can spot a sales pitch in a sentence. It is a poor place to prospect and a good place to demonstrate that you know what you are talking about.
