Free Reddit research tools

Three tools that answer the three questions worth asking before you spend time on Reddit: where is my audience, is that community worth posting in, and is anyone actually asking for what I sell? All free, no login.

Subreddit Finder

Type a product or topic and find the subreddits where that audience actually hangs out, with subscriber counts.

Start here when you don’t yet know which communities matter.

Subreddit Checker

Check a subreddit before you post: real posts per day, median comments, best posting hours, and every self-promotion rule.

Use it to drop dead or hostile communities before wasting a week on them.

Reddit Keyword Monitor

Search any keyword across Reddit and see who is asking about it right now — subreddit, post age and comment count included.

Use it to confirm real buyers are asking before you commit.

How they fit together

Most Reddit lead generation fails for a boring reason: people pick communities by subscriber count, post something promotional, and get removed. Working in order avoids that.

  1. Find candidate subreddits for your niche with the Subreddit Finder. Aim for a mix of one or two large communities and several small, specific ones.
  2. Qualify each with the Subreddit Checker. A community with almost no posts per day, a median of zero comments, or a blanket ban on promotion is not worth your time — better to learn that in ten seconds than after a ban. For the twenty-nine communities most business marketers ask about, we have already done this — see the subreddit directory.
  3. Validate demand with the Keyword Monitor. Search the phrases your buyers would actually type. If nobody is asking, the subreddit is a content channel, not a lead channel.

For the strategy behind all this, read how to find leads on Reddit and how to do Reddit marketing without getting banned.
