Reddit Keyword Monitoring Tools Compared (2026)
There are more Reddit monitoring tools than most people realize, and they solve genuinely different problems. This is an honest breakdown — including where competitors beat us — so you can pick the right one instead of the one with the best ad budget.
How we evaluated these tools: pricing and feature claims below come from each tool's public pricing page and product docs as of the "Updated" date above; where we haven't used a competitor's paid tier directly, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We update this page when a tool changes its pricing or features materially.
The one-line summary
- F5Bot — free, email-only keyword alerts. Great starting point, noisy at scale.
- Google Alerts — not really built for Reddit; misses most of it.
- GummySearch — was excellent for audience research; shut down as of Dec 2026.
- Syften — fast real-time alerts across Reddit + other platforms.
- RedditScout — AI scores each post for intent, not just keyword match.

F5Bot: the free workhorse
F5Bot is genuinely great and genuinely free. You give it keywords, it emails you when they appear in a Reddit post or comment. If you're monitoring your brand name or a couple of specific phrases, start here — you may never need anything else. The limitation is that it's a literal keyword match with no understanding: "looking to replace Notion" and "I love Notion" both trigger a "Notion" alert, so you read and triage everything yourself. That's fine at low volume and painful at high volume.
Google Alerts: not really for Reddit
Google Alerts indexes the web, and Reddit is only partially and slowly indexed. You'll miss most posts and catch them late. Fine as a catch-all for brand mentions across the whole web; poor as a Reddit tool specifically. The Google Alerts comparison explains why the gap is structural rather than a settings problem — it monitors an index, not the platform.
GummySearch: shut down
GummySearch is no longer available. It closed to new signups on 30 November 2025 and shuts down completely on 1 December 2026, when all user data is deleted — the result of being unable to agree commercial terms with Reddit for Data API access. If you still have an account, our export guide is the time-sensitive part; why GummySearch shut down covers what the closure means for everything else on this page, including us.
It shone at understanding an audience — browsing a subreddit's top pain points, questions and patterns — and nothing replaces that half of it exactly. Our GummySearch shutdown page covers the timeline, what to export, and the honest replacement options for each half of what it did.
If you were weighing it against something specific before the news broke, both those comparisons have been rewritten around the shutdown rather than deleted: GummySearch vs F5Bot (settled by events — F5Bot is free and still running) and RedditScout vs GummySearch, which covers what replaces each half of what it did. There is also a wider lesson in there about Data API risk across this whole category.
Syften: fast and multi-platform
Syften delivers quick real-time alerts across Reddit, Hacker News, and other communities, with Slack integration and solid filtering. If speed and breadth across platforms matter most, it's excellent. Its filtering is rule-based rather than AI intent scoring. Compare directly on our Syften alternative page.
Where RedditScout fits
RedditScout's one distinct idea: instead of matching keywords, an AI model reads each new post and scores how well it fits your definition of a good lead, per subreddit. You describe your product and what a buying-intent post looks like; the model filters out the "I love this competitor" noise and hands you a short, ranked list. That's the difference between 200 keyword hits to triage and 8 posts actually worth replying to.
Honest caveats: we're newer than the tools above, we focus on lead-finding rather than broad audience research, and AI scoring isn't magic — it's a strong filter, not a guarantee. If you just need free brand alerts, F5Bot is the right call. If you're trying to find and reply to buyers efficiently, that's what we optimize for. Deep market research was GummySearch's strength, and since its shutdown there is no exact replacement — a genuine gap in this category rather than one we fill.

Get Started Free →The seven tools this list leaves out
The five above are the ones people actually shortlist when they specifically want Reddit monitoring. Several other products get recommended in this context, and most of them are a different shape of tool than they first appear — worth knowing before you trial one.
Social listening suites
Brand24, Mention and Awario are brand-monitoring platforms built for marketing teams, with Reddit as one channel among many. They are strong at sentiment, reach and reporting, and comparatively weak at the specific job of finding one person who wants to buy something today — sentiment analysis sorts mentions by mood, which is not the same as sorting them by intent. Awario is the closest of the three to a lead tool because it ships a genuine lead-finding module built on boolean search. We compared each honestly: Brand24, Mention, Awario, and if you are choosing between the first two rather than against us, Brand24 vs Mention takes no side.
AI reply tools
Devi AI and ReplyGuy both use a language model on social posts, but they optimise for a different end of the funnel — generating and posting replies at volume across several platforms. Devi AI covers nine platforms including Facebook Groups, which is genuinely useful if your buyers are not concentrated on Reddit. Our view, argued at length on the ReplyGuy comparison, is that reply volume is the wrong variable to maximise on Reddit specifically, because the platform punishes it — but that is a position, not a fact, and the Devi AI comparison sets out where breadth beats depth.
Alert delivery
KWatch.io pushes real-time Reddit and Hacker News matches into Slack or a webhook, which is the right answer if your team already lives in Slack and wants matches to arrive there rather than in a dashboard. Notifier for Reddit is a native Apple app sending keyword push notifications to your phone. Both are keyword-based rather than intent-based, so the noise question from the F5Bot section applies equally — see KWatch.io and Notifier for Reddit.
If you want the whole landscape sorted by what kind of product each one is rather than by name, that is what the alternatives index does, and the head-to-head comparisons include two between products we do not sell at all.
How to choose
- Just starting / tiny budget: F5Bot.
- Audience & market research: no direct replacement since GummySearch shut down.
- Real-time alerts across many platforms: Syften.
- Finding buyers with minimal noise: RedditScout.
Whichever you pick, the fundamentals in how to find leads on Reddit and not getting banned still apply — the tool finds the post; you still have to be a good human in the reply.
Frequently asked questions
Is F5Bot really free?
Yes — F5Bot is completely free with no paid tier. It emails you when a keyword you're tracking appears in a Reddit post or comment. The tradeoff is that it's literal keyword matching, so you triage every match yourself.
What's the difference between keyword matching and AI intent scoring?
Keyword matching (F5Bot, Google Alerts, Syften) flags any post containing your word, whether or not it's relevant — "I love Notion" and "looking to replace Notion" both trigger the same alert. AI intent scoring (RedditScout) reads the post and rates how well it matches your description of a buying-intent lead, filtering out the noise before you see it.
What is the best free Reddit monitoring tool?
For simple brand or keyword alerts, F5Bot is the best free option — it's reliable and has no paid tier. For AI-scored lead finding specifically, RedditScout is free to start.
Can I use more than one of these tools at once?
Yes, and many people do — for example F5Bot for free brand-name alerts alongside RedditScout for AI-scored lead finding, since they solve different problems rather than competing head-on.
