Showoff Saturday and the 9:1 rule

The structural rule here is that sharing your project, portfolio or anything you want feedback on is confined to Showoff Saturday. Post it on any other day and it is removed regardless of quality. Commercial promotion and solicitation are banned outright and can result in a ban, and the general self-promotion rule points at Reddit's 9:1 guidance.

Beyond promotion, the community enforces question quality hard: requests for help must include context, prior research and a specific problem. Open-ended career questions are confined to a monthly thread. Low-effort posts, including anything that reads as LLM-generated, are removed.

For a developer-tools vendor this is a good community to be genuinely useful in and a bad one to market in. The membership is technical, sceptical, and quick to identify an account whose contributions all point one direction.

Promotion rules, in the moderators' own words

3 of r/webdev's 8 rules govern promotion, advertising or soliciting, quoted verbatim:

No self-promotion

Read and follow reddiquette; no excessive self-promotion. Please refer to the Reddit 9:1 rule when considering posting self promoting materials.

No commercial promotions/solicitations

We do not allow any commercial promotion or solicitation. Violations can result in a ban.

No soliciting feedback not on Saturday

Sharing your project, portfolio, or any other content that you want to either show off or request feedback on is limited to Showoff Saturday. If you post such content on any other day, it will be removed. Posts must be tagged with the correct flair. Commercial promotion still falls under rule #4 and
