Education and critique, explicitly not commerce
The first rule bans both hiring designers and promoting your services, and redirects job posts to r/forhire, r/designjobs or r/jobs by name. Requests for unpaid work result in an instant ban. Surveys, polls and social media accounts are banned. Sharing your own app, platform or plugin is heavily conditioned.
Beyond promotion, the community is strict about content: work must be posted with the correct flair and accompanied by context explaining the objective and your design decisions. AI-generated design is banned, including AI-written descriptions of your own work. Font identification requests and repeated beginner questions are removed.
What this leaves is a genuine learning and critique community. For a design-tool vendor it is a place to be quietly useful; for a designer seeking clients it is the wrong room entirely, and the rules will tell you where to go instead.
