r/Entrepreneur

The largest business community on Reddit by a distance, and one of the quietest by posting volume โ€” which turns out to be exactly why it works. Almost nothing gets through, and what does gets read properly.

What the numbers say

r/Entrepreneur sees a modest number of posts โ€” about 4.5 a day โ€” with heavy discussion on almost everything posted. That is a remarkable ratio for a subreddit of this size, and it is entirely a product of aggressive moderation. Restriction is what produces attention. It accepts text posts only, so there is no way to submit a link as a post โ€” whatever you want read has to be written out in the post itself.

What these numbers mean and why subscriber count is the wrong one is explained on the directory hub.

The moderation is the feature

Five million members producing four or five posts a day tells you almost everything. The moderators remove enormous volumes of low-effort and promotional content, and the survivors get a median of thirty-plus comments โ€” genuine discussion, not a wall.

The rules are correspondingly demanding. Promotion, sales, recruiting and soliciting are banned outright, including asking people to DM you or check your profile. AI-generated posts are banned. And there is an unusual participation requirement: you must engage in other people's threads before you may post your own, which is a straightforward way of excluding people who arrive purely to broadcast.

Treat this as a place to be useful with no expectation of a direct return. Answer questions in your area of genuine expertise, well, repeatedly, and the returns arrive as profile visits and reputation rather than as leads you can attribute. If that sounds slow, it is โ€” but a comment here is read by an order of magnitude more people than the same comment in a busier founder subreddit.

Promotion rules, in the moderators' own words

1 of r/Entrepreneur's 5 rules govern promotion, advertising or soliciting, quoted verbatim:

Do not use this community to sell, promote, recruit, hire, job-seek, solicit investment, or drive traffic to your profile, company, or external content. No dropping URLs, asking users to DM you, telling people to check your profile, or offering private resources. No crypto or investment pitches. Fre

Frequently asked questions

Can you promote your business in r/Entrepreneur?

No. The first rule bans selling, promoting, recruiting, hiring, job-seeking, soliciting investment and driving traffic to your profile or company, and explicitly covers dropping URLs and asking users to DM you. There is no promotional thread exception.

Is r/Entrepreneur good for finding leads?

Useful, but the promotion rules will catch you out. Nobody will post a purchase request here, but the discussion quality is the highest of any large business subreddit, so expertise shown here travels.

How active is r/Entrepreneur?

About 4.5 posts a day from 5.2M members, with a median of 37 comments per post โ€” heavy discussion on almost everything posted.
