r/dropship

The most striking gap between membership and activity on this directory. Over 350,000 members produce fewer than two posts a day โ€” and the members who remain are the ones hardest to sell anything to.

What the numbers say

r/dropship sees very few posts โ€” about 1.6 a day โ€” with real discussion on most posts. That is a remarkable ratio for a community this size, and it tells you the membership number is largely historical: people joined during a hype cycle and stopped participating.

What these numbers mean and why subscriber count is the wrong one is explained on the directory hub.

A large membership that mostly left

Two things make this a difficult channel, and the first is simply that almost nothing happens. Under two posts a day across 356,000 members means the subscriber count is a record of past interest rather than current activity. Discussion on what does get posted is respectable, but there is very little of it.

The second is who remains. The membership skews towards people who have not yet made a sale, which means limited budget and a high proportion of questions that will never lead to a purchase of anything beyond a course. And the community has been worked hard by people selling courses, mentorship and "done for you" stores, so members have developed strong and largely justified defensive instincts. Legitimate vendors get treated with the same suspicion as the course sellers โ€” a reasonable heuristic for members, an expensive one for you.

If your product genuinely helps someone at the very beginning, the community can be receptive. But between the volume and the scepticism, the effort-to-return ratio is poor next to r/ecommerce or a platform community, and we would not recommend starting here.
