GummySearch Has Shut Down — Your Options Now
GummySearch is no longer accepting customers, and it is being switched off entirely on 1 December 2026. If you were searching for an alternative because your account stopped working, that is why. This page covers what happened, what you should export before the deadline, and what to move to — including options that are not us.
What happened
GummySearch announced its closure after being unable to agree commercial terms with Reddit for API access. The founder was direct about it: they tried to obtain a commercial licence, and "unfortunately it didn't work out." Rather than continue without one — which he noted some competitors do — the decision was to wind the business down.
The timeline, from their own announcement:
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| 30 November 2025 | New signups and payments closed permanently; free tier shuttered |
| Dec 2025 – Nov 2026 | Transition period — existing paid customers only |
| 1 December 2026 | Full shutdown. All user data deleted. |
It is worth saying plainly that this was a good product shut down honestly, with a year of notice and a clear explanation. That is more than most tools manage.
Do this first: export your data
Everything in your account disappears on 1 December 2026 and does not come back. Before you evaluate a single replacement, get out anything you would miss — saved audiences and the subreddit lists behind them, tracked keywords in the exact phrasing you settled on, and any saved posts or notes you have referenced more than once.
The subreddit lists and keyword phrasings matter more than they look. They are the part you spent months learning, they transfer to any tool including a free one, and they exist nowhere except inside an account with a deletion date on it.
Our GummySearch export guide is the full checklist — what to capture, what no export will give you, and what to do with it afterwards. It takes about ten minutes and it is the only genuinely time-limited thing on this page.
Replacing it: which half did you use?
GummySearch did two quite different jobs, and no single product replaces both well. Work out which one you actually relied on.
If you used it for audience research
Browsing a community to learn its recurring pain points, common questions and vocabulary — for positioning, product ideas or content. There is no exact replacement, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise. RedditScout does not do this job: it is built to triage new posts against a fixed definition of a good lead, which assumes you already know your market.
What you can do without paying anyone: Reddit's own search with sorting by top and a wide time window still shows you the recurring questions in a community, and our free Subreddit Checker tells you whether a community is worth studying at all — real posts per day, median comments, and its promotion rules. It is a downgrade from a purpose-built research workspace; it is also free and immediate.
If you used it to find leads
Watching for people asking questions you could answer, then replying. This half is well covered, and you have real choices:
- F5Bot — free, emails you on exact keyword matches, covers comments as well as posts. If you were mainly watching your brand or competitor names, start here and do not spend money. It is genuinely good at that job.
- Syften — real-time alerts across many platforms if you need more than Reddit.
- KWatch.io — if you want Hacker News too, or alerts delivered into Slack.
- RedditScout — if the thing you liked about GummySearch was not having to read everything, this is the closest in spirit. Rather than keyword matching, you write a plain-language description of what a good lead looks like and an AI scores every new post against it, then emails you a short ranked list with a reply drafted.
Moving your setup across
If you land here, the migration is mostly a writing exercise and takes about ten minutes. Your saved audiences become the subreddit list on a query. The filters you used to apply by hand become a paragraph: the situation a good lead is in, the scale or budget you serve, and what to exclude. Then let the first scan run and correct the criteria over a few days based on what it scores highly — that tuning loop is where the accuracy comes from.
The free tier includes five saved queries, daily scans, the email digest and reply drafting, so you can rebuild your setup and see real output before deciding whether it is worth paying for.
The obvious question
If GummySearch closed over Reddit API licensing, what about everyone else?
It is a fair question and you should ask it of any Reddit tool you are considering, including this one. The short answer is that Reddit's Data API terms are the structural risk for this entire category, and that RedditScout is exposed to it too — we read Reddit through the public OAuth API and hold no commercial data licence, so a change in terms would put us where GummySearch was. Anyone in this category claiming permanent immunity is either party to an agreement they are not describing, or guessing.
We wrote that up properly in why GummySearch shut down — how the licensing problem differs from the 2023 Apollo pricing wave, which categories of tool are exposed, and the four questions worth asking any vendor before you subscribe. Three of the four are about your own resilience rather than theirs, which is the part you control.
For the wider landscape, see the full comparison of Reddit monitoring tools, or start with how to find leads on Reddit if you want the manual method first.
Two head-to-heads go deeper on the specific swap you may be making: GummySearch vs F5Bot, if free keyword alerts cover what you were using it for, and RedditScout vs GummySearch, which is honest about the fact that only one half of what GummySearch did has a replacement at all. Whichever way you go, our guides and articles cover the manual techniques that outlive any single tool — which is the actual lesson of this shutdown.
Rebuilding your Reddit setup?
RedditScout scores every new post in your subreddits against your own description of a good lead, and emails you the handful worth replying to. Free tier includes five queries — enough to rebuild what you had.

Is GummySearch shut down?
Yes. Payments and new signups closed on 30 November 2025. Existing paid customers keep access through a transition period that ends on 30 November 2026, and on 1 December 2026 the service shuts down completely and all user data is deleted.
Why did GummySearch shut down?
It could not reach a commercial licensing agreement with Reddit for its Data API. In the founder’s words, they "were not able to reach an agreement that aligns with Reddit’s Data API Usage policies" — leaving the choice of going non-commercial or closing.
Can I still sign up for GummySearch?
No. New signups and payments ended on 30 November 2025, and the free tier was closed at the same time.
What happens to my GummySearch data?
It is permanently deleted on 1 December 2026. If you have saved audiences, tracked keywords or research you care about, export it before then — this is the one genuinely time-sensitive thing on this page.
What is the best GummySearch alternative?
It depends which half of GummySearch you used. For audience research and browsing there is no exact like-for-like replacement. For ongoing lead finding, a monitoring tool covers that job — F5Bot free for keyword alerts, or RedditScout if you want AI-scored leads rather than raw matches.
